# Project Description Finding Home Ana Martins Summary Final work I am a designer with a background in graphic and spatial design, and interior architecture. My practice explores themes of identity, memory, and cultural connection, blending creativity with technical precision to craft meaningful experiences. College Camberwell College of Arts Course MA Interior And Spatial Design Graduation year 2024 A Saudade que Abraço o Passado Finding Home is a project that navigates cultural identity, memory, and belonging by creatively exploring traditional Portuguese and Cape Verdean designs, particularly tile-making and textile patterns. Drawing from my experience as an immigrant in London, I aim to redefine “home” by merging design elements from both cultures, connecting personal memories with broader narratives of migration and diasporic identity. Final work View Gallery View Gallery View Gallery FINDING HOME - A Saudade que Abraça o Passado Finding Home is a short film that follows my journey as a student struggling with a deeply personal project during the early weeks of my course. Feeling lost and uncertain, I return to my childhood neighbourhood in Algueirão Mem-Martins, drawing inspiration from familiar spaces. All scenes were filmed in the places that shaped me—my grandmother’s street, my high school, and my favourite streets in Lisbon. Through these locations, I reconnect with my roots and culture, gradually rediscovering a sense of fulfilment and belonging. The film explores themes of identity, belonging, and the creative process, showing how our past shapes who we are and where we truly feel at home.
