This Project explores Afro Futurism in a do we want for the future as a community? The answer speaks to black joy, confidence, and progress of the community by looking into the de-sexualization of Black women. I will look into the Sande society, a society within my tribe; Mende from Sierra Leone, it is an all women society that embodies feminine beauty and womanhood. I plan to merge traditional west African cultural elements from Sierra Leone with Black British culture over the years. With this, i aim to create a new visual language that reflect these desires and embody them in garments. honours the past while forging a bold and confident, hopeful future for the community.
