For some time, I have been intrigued by the broader subject of materiality. Within the context of my pathway, painting, I was interested to research texture particularly materiality. While as the viewer, I find added context to be vital to how I interpret art, but as the artist, I like the control of taking this away and seeing how my work is digested. 'Material Matters' came from a place of dissecting images, particularly unmixed food where the visual separation and the materiality of the work, when zoomed in questioned themes such as the creation of enchantment in daily life and Space.
