CampBoo is a proposal for a camping site infrastructure that utilises regenerative design principles and forward-thinking methods, offering an enhanced and ecologically responsible approach to the future of camping.
Situated in the subtropical hills of Canton, China, the project responds to the environmental impact of poorly managed campsites. It introduces a bamboo-based infrastructure inspired by traditional Cantonese architecture, incorporating rainwater harvesting, passive ventilation, solar energy, and composting systems.
Rooted in community-led design, CampBoo was developed through interviews with local campers, collaboration with environmental practitioners, and hands-on material testing. The site also integrates a permaculture farm and educational spaces to encourage regenerative practices and local engagement.
By combining sustainable infrastructure with culturally responsive design, CampBoo reimagines outdoor environments as shared spaces shaped by local knowledge, collective care, and ecological responsibility.
