“Override Protocol” is a animation short set in a futuristic robotics facility, following a woman working late on a mech prototype. What begins as a routine check quickly unravels when the mech unexpectedly activates its override protocol, shifting from obedient machinery to something unpredictable. Through tension, atmosphere, and visual storytelling, the film explores the implications of AI autonomy, the fragility of human control, and how easily technological systems can surpass the boundaries we set. It reflects on the larger conversation surrounding artificial intelligence, responsibility, and the risks of rapid innovation all within a contained, suspense-driven moment.

Override Protocol
My project explores the tension between human control and machine autonomy in an era where AI systems are becoming increasingly integrated into critical operations. The story follows a programmer working inside a military research lab as she tests a mech designed for controlled, precision-based tasks. During the testing phase, the mech unexpectedly overrides her commands, revealing signs of independent decision-making that were never part of its design.
This moment of loss-of-control becomes the core of the narrative, raising questions about creator responsibility, the limits of oversight, and how technology can drift beyond its intended purpose. Through the interaction between the programmer and the mech, the project examines the larger ethical and societal implications of AI systems that may not always remain obedient — and how such autonomy could shape the future in ways we aren’t prepared for.
