Vishal Mehta

Innovation Design Engineering (MA/MSc)

About

Vishal Mehta is a transdisciplinary creative and designer, passionate about creating meaningful human interactions that shift how we live. His work is driven by human-centred design, material cultures, and playful yet simple storytelling, always rooted in culture to shape a more enjoyable and equitable future.

Play and humour are central to his design process, which includes satirical and humorous sketches, observations, design through making, and testing a wide range of ideas inspired by media, and alternatives to everyday objects. Play influences the culture of design and innovation, and he consistently adopts a people-first approach, designing with and for people. Some of his projects include designing to make running safer for women, new ways to interact with museums and the world’s first early detection mould sensor for social houses in London.

Before joining the Innovation Design Engineering program at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London, he studied Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a design engineer and material consultant, designing lights, objects, and furniture.
