About
Ruta Arizona Czaplińska is a multidisciplinary Designer and Engineer with over 4 years of experience developing innovative products across medical devices, consumer electronics, and sustainable technology. She is a recipient of the prestigious Industrial Design Studentship from the Royal Commission for the Exhibition 1851.
Her expertise bridges mechanical engineering and material science with human- and planet-centered design approaches. Ruta is driven by values of creating accessible solutions that consider the complete lifecycle of products. She combines technical expertise in CAD modeling, prototyping, material development, and testing with creative problem-solving and effective visual communication.
A graduate of the MSc/MA Innovation Design Engineering program at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art, Ruta’s graduation project, Seaquins, exemplifies her approach to systemic sustainability challenges. The project develops biodegradable embellishments from chitosan that achieve structural coloration through mechanical surface patterning, offering fashion designers a circular alternative to the 1.7 million sequined garments discarded annually.
Her passion lies in developing meaningful innovations that enhance human experiences through thoughtful integration of technology, engineering principles, and design thinking.
