About

Haowen Ma holds a bachelor’s degree in telecommunication engineering, but his lifelong passion for toys and games gradually led him to cross disciplinary boundaries and pursue a path in design. As a child, he often customized his toys as a way of expressing his individuality—an early sign of the creative drive that would later shape his practice.

Motivated by a deep interest in immersive experiences and emotional connection, he blends his engineering background with design thinking to explore the intersections of technology, narrative, and human-centered design. His works often combine hardware and software, creating interactive installations and hybrid experiences that blur the boundaries between the physical and digital worlds.

For him, play is not just a design language but a mechanism for emotional connection—between people, and between people and objects. From prototyping physical controllers to building digital toy archives and designing AI-powered interaction platforms, Haowen continuously seeks new ways to redefine the landscape of entertainment and interactive experience.
